A Study on Body Fat Contents from Body Height and Weight in Korean Youths

Abstract
A Study on 8184 (Boys;4886, Girls;3298) primary, middle and high school students in an urban area (Seoul Special City) was conducted for assessing their physical growth and development, an correalation and equation between body height and weight, human body volume and body fat contents from the measurements of body height and body weight
from May 1 through July 30 1979, and the following result were obtaineid.
A. Physical Growth and Development.
1. Maximum growth was seen during the period from 6 to 15 years of age. 2. The maximum annual growth rates were as follows;
Body height; Male, 7.2cm from 11 to 12 years of age, Female, 4.9cm from 11 to 12 years of age.
Body weight; Male, 6.3kg from 13 to 14 years of age. Female, 5.05kg from 11 to 12 years of age.
3. The greatest individual differences in growth and development were observed during 10¢¥¢¥14years of age.
4. The standards of growth of present urban korean students show much improved than that of 1967.
B. The correlation among the physical measurements.
The correlation coefficients between body height and body weight are indicative of highly correlated condition as follows;
6 year old : r=0.790 (p<0.001) in male and r=+0.704(p<0.001) in female,
7 year old : r=0.827 (p<0.001) in male and r=+0.814 (p<0.001),
8 year old : r=0.792 (p9 year old : r=0.712 (p<0.001) and r=+0.730 (p<0.001),
10 year old : r=0.657 and r=+0.779,
11 year old : r=+0.777 and r=+0.812,
12 year old : r=0.844 and r=+0.634,
13 year old : r=+0.794 and r=+0.659,
